Our 3,000 Kona Coffee trees produce a limited supply of Specialty Grade Kona Coffee. We are in the heart of the coffee belt. Rich volcanic soil along with sunny days and rainy evenings provide the ideal climate for growing the best coffee. Our family farm is small enough to carefully manage every detail to ensure only you get only the best coffee possible. We hand pick only the red ripe cherries, wash ferment, sun dry, mill, fresh roast and ship direct from our farm.
Our coffee trees are grown in partial shade to help them fight off diseases and reduce the requirements for fertilize and water. Shade does reduce the yield per tree and slows the development, but benefits are larger dense cherries full of rich flavors. We intercrop with macadamia nut, citrus, avocado, bananas, Ulu, and dozens of other tropical fruits to increase the biodiversity and supply our roadside farm stand.
We are not certified Organic, but follow many of these practices in caring for the trees and land. We don’t use any chemical pesticides or herbicides on the coffee. This requires hundreds of hours line trimming, digging cane grass, and pulling vines to maintain the orchard. We find this benefits the rich soil full of worms and holds moisture for healthy roots to feed the coffee cherries. We also keep bees to help with pollination and produce raw honey.
